A Leap Of Faith
Unfortunately, little is known of my Jeffrey ancestors, the starting point in my research being a copy of my grandfather, Edmund Jeffery birth certificate and the 1901 census details of his parents. Together these show that my great grandparents were Alfred Jeffery and Florence Anne Davis and I obtained a copy of their marriage certificate. This confirmed Frederick Jeffery as Alfred’s father although he was deceased at time of their wedding. The 1901 census for Alfred Jeffery shows him age 38, thus being born about 1862/3, and birthplace was Lewisham
I have been unable to trace Alfred Jeffery in either 1881 or 1891 census but have found what may be his family in both 1861 census and 1871 census. Because of slight differences in his age, I cannot be certain that this is the right person although both census state Alfred as being born in Lewisham, hence a leap of faith and hope I am not barking up the wrong family tree.
